Silence

We don’t speak as we drive down the road, staring out the window,

watching the lightning light up the sky.

They say silence speaks louder than words, now I see how it’s true.

Our silence is like a clap of thunder followed by a storm.

We are now the they, the people that drive the warnings of lost love

into the world like the violent wind of a hurricane.

They say we knew how this would end, on a road of silence, in tears, with pain.

Our love was like magic, blinded us to the truth we couldn’t have known.

How could we have known?

The peaceful silence that once meant everything became lethal silence now deafening.
